Release Bearings

External clutch slave cylinders with pushrods, levers and other paraphernalia have virtually disappeared from today's racing cars.

The replacement is a simple concentric hydraulic cylinder with a thrust bearing on the end of the piston fitted over the gearbox input shaft and bolted to the back of the bell housing, sometimes with an adaptor plate. Pressure on the clutch pedal moves the piston and bearing forward, releasing the clutch.

Tilton are a leading manufacturer of such throw-out bearings with varieties to suit many common applications, such as Top Loader, Saginaw, Super T10, Hewland, Weissman and other gearboxes. If an application is not listed, some of the Tilton bearings may be modified or otherwise adapted to fit anyway. Various thrust bearings are available to suit different styles of clutch - lever type, flat or curved finger diaphragm etc.

All Tilton bearings are supplied with stainless steel braided hoses for feed and bleed, adaptors and instructions.

We also stock a huge variety of Tilton release bearings that are not shown on this site.

We can usually supply you with a bearing that will meet your application.
